Post Industrious Gallery Tour and Panel Discussion
Saturday, December 7th

In conjunction with the exhibition Post Industrious, Manifold hosted a gallery tour led by artists WM FitzPatrick and Barry Phipps who spoke about their work in relation to the themes of the exhibition: how current economic realities, environmental concerns, and an awareness of recent history influence design and art making in the post-industrial Midwest.

Following the tour, FitzPatrick and Phipps joined urban planner Cristina Silva in a panel discussion moderated by curator Franck Mercurio. Silva kicked-off the conversation by presenting examples of the reinterpretation of industrial spaces and explored how adaptive reuse is currently being employed as a driver of economic and community development. The panel also discussed FitzPatrick's sculptures and Phipp's photographs in relation to adaptive reuse and urban place making in Midwestern towns and cities.
